Understand Cervical Cancer

  • Nearly all cervical cancer is caused by a virus named human papillomavirus (hpv).
  • Almost all sexually active people will have hpv virus at some point in their lives.
  • Most often, hpv virus will go away on its own, but if it doesn’t, it could cause cervical cancer

How to screen ?

  • The most common screening test for cervical cancer is a pap smear test
  • This test will check for changes in the cells of your cervix that could turn into a cancer over time
  • A pap test takes only 5 minutes

  • Cervical cancer often does not show signs until later
